jGnash supports file encryption, but it may not work in your region due to export laws.

Make a backup before trying encryption.

If you forget your password, your data will be lost; there is no recovery from a lost password.

If at all possible, rely on the security features in your operating system to protect your data.

jGnash 2.x

Encryption will not be directly supported for the jGnash 2.x series. The United States imposes export restrictions on software. Maintaining who can have what for encryption capabilities is not an easy task.

All operating systems that jGnash operates on, have the ability to provide native encryption or encryption can be added. If encryption is needed, please use OS level tools to encrypt your data.
